Greater Midwest Realty Starts a New Chapter
As of Tuesday, January 26, 2021, Joe Weinzetl became the broker and owner of Greater Midwest Realty. Purchasing the 20 year old brokerage from founder, Mary Peterson, he described this opportunity as being one of his dreams.
About Joe Weinzetl
The best word to describe Joe would be optimistic, shortly followed by driven, knowledgeable, and energizing. He brings positivity with him wherever he goes. He understands the value of hard work and recognizes untapped potential in every situation. As a broker, Joe brings years of varied experience to the table.
Out of high school Joe was convinced by a friend to join the Marine Corps. While serving, he participated in several leadership courses as he worked his way through the ranks. After 8 years in the Marine Corps, Joe decided it was time for a change. He started off working for his father-in-law at a machine shop packing parts.
After working there for a while, he found himself thinking…
‘What do I want to do with my life?’
As he thought about his passions and experiences, he found it was real estate that called his name. While continuing to work at the machine shop, Joe decided to use his vacation time to complete the course work necessary to receive his real estate license. After getting his license, Joe began his part time real estate career in 2012 with Greater Midwest Realty.
In 2015, Joe closed 4 transactions in December and decided that was his calling to become a full-time agent. Once Joe started coming into the office more, he began to develop relationships with other agents. Scott Ebel, an experienced and longtime agent of GMR, took Joe under his wing and became a mentor to him. After building and growing his business, Joe decided to take his talents and skills to new heights by starting a team.
With this new challenge ahead, Joe set out to push both his leadership and real estate skills further. In just one calendar year, Joe and his team completed 145 transactions. While he gained this valuable experience as a team leader, thoughts of more loomed in the back of his mind.
Recent Years and Future Plans
In March of 2019, Joe became President of Greater Midwest Realty, completing the first step in achieving his goal – CEO. Within his new role as President, Joe consistently brought new and exciting ideas with him to the table.
As Joe has stepped into his combined CEO and Broker roles he has implemented several major operating changes that will make Greater Midwest Realty a more competitive and advanced brokerage. With updates to our technology, resources, and operations, Joe looks at his purchase as an opportunity to grow the Greater Midwest name in the real estate industry. At the same time, he ensures that we will continue to provide the same family–feel and 100% commission programs to the people we serve, our agents.
